Steps in Payroll Process



If you look at the below picture, there are six different steps in PeopleSoft Payroll Process.

1. Setup Core HR and Payroll Tables
2. Employee Data Setup based on Step 1.
3. Create PaySheets for all Employees based on Step 2.
4. Run PeopleSoft Pay Calculations
5. Finalize and Confirm the Payroll
6. Run Reports which includes Direct Deposits, Printing Checks etc.





With PeopleSoft North American Payroll , you should be able to:

• Set up employee data for U.S. and Canada.
• Process garnishments.
• Create and work with paysheets.
• Run pay calculation processes.
• View earnings and paycheck summaries for U.S. and Canada.
• Run pay confirmation processes, including USF reports.
• Work with checks and direct deposits for U.S. and Canada.
• Perform periodic payroll events.
• Enter, view, and process tip allocation data.
• Process retroactive pay.
• Process retroactive benefits and deductions.
• View and adjust employee balances for U.S. and Canada.
• Generate a Canadian Record of Employment (ROE).
• Generate IRR and ROST reports for USF.
• Run Human Capital Management (HCM) reports.

Introduction to PeopleSoft Payroll for North America:

One of the Module within PeopleSoft HCM Suite is Payroll for North America. This module can be used for USA and Canada countries. Basically, this module provides the tools to calculate earnings, taxes, and deductions efficiently , i.e calculate Gross to Net; PeopleSoft North American Payroll is a robust payroll solution that enables you to turn your payroll processing into a dynamic, accurate, easily controlled operation.  From time entry, payroll calculation, and tax computation to check preparation, payroll reporting,  tax and year-end reporting;

If you are trying to process payroll for other countries like UK or France, then you would need to use another Module called "PeopleSoft Global Payroll";  You need to define and configure the rules around that countries payoll requirements.


Payroll for North America integrates with these PeopleSoft applications, including HRMS, Time and Labor, and Student Administration as shown below:


With Payroll for North America, you can design the payroll system to meet your organization's specific requirements. Provide the system with some basic information about the types of balances that you want to maintain, how you want to group the workforce, and when you want to pay them. You can define and establish earnings, deductions, taxes, and processes that fit your unique business needs. The payroll system enables you to calculate gross-to-net or net-to-gross pay, leave accruals, and retroactive pay.
